PRESS RELEASE - 17 March 2023
PolyCert Europe is delighted to announce that the Royal Decree of recognition as AISBL has been signed and published.
This official recognition of PolyCert Europe as AISBL gives the platform a wider cross-border cooperation perspective. More certification schemes can get approved and join the PolyCert Europe umbrella, more audits can be done by the accredited certification bodies.
The certification schemes who are members of PolyCert Europe are working together to harmonize their audit methodology. All of them work in cooperation with accredited certification bodies who have proven their competence in the plastics sector and ensure the impartiality and quality of the audits.
All these certification schemes meet the PolyCert Europe standard and are convinced that joining forces and working on the same basis will increase transparency in claims made by companies about the recycled material they use. It will support the transition to circular economy for plastics and other industries. Hundreds of companies around the world are being certified by the accredited certification bodies. To name a few, the Belgian company NMC but also Powerpack from Kosovo, and Cofresco from Germany can be found in the certified companies list on PolyCert Europe website.
Thanks to this recognition as AISBL, PolyCert Europe is expanding which will contribute to its synergy with MORE platform for achieving the Circular Plastics Alliance (CPA) targets of 10 million tonnes of recycled polymers used annually between 2025 and 2030 set up by the European Commission.
“An important step has been taken with the creation of the PolyCert Europe AISBL. It strengthens collaboration between partners involved and provides a strong basis for further developments”, said PolyCert Europe’s President Jan Laperre.
PolyCert Europe now aims at getting certification schemes accredited, but also a broader scope of accredited certification bodies, mutual recognition and a closer follow-up of pre-consumer & post-consumer recyclates requirements.
